re:) Fermenting Culture
A return to insight through gut logic
The mind in Western thought dominates everything, constructing a Cartesian blindness that is inherently masculine and thus, I argue, has constructed a gender-lopsidedness that has contributed significantly to climate, species, societal and ecological ruinations. To uncover this assertion I’ve gone right back, well before Descartes (he is just part of the succession of such lopsidedness), back to early Greece, to the Pandora myth and to the related myth of Prometheus and Epimetheus – the West’s yin and yang story – a precautionary tale of twinned opposites concerning technology and memory that has long been forgotten.

The Art of Free Travel
A frugal family adventure
Patrick, Meg and their family had built a happy, sustainable life in regional Victoria. But in late 2013, they found themselves craving an adventure: a road trip. But theirs was a road trip with a difference.
Their aim was to live as cheaply as possible − guerrilla camping, hunting, foraging and bartering their permaculture skills, and living on a diet of free food, bush tucker, and the occasional fresh road kill. They spent time in Aboriginal communities, joined an anti-fracking blockade, documented edible plants, and dodged speeding cars and trucks on the country’s most dangerous highways.
The Art of Free Travel is the remarkable, honest and moving story of a rule-breaking year of ethical living.

Regaining permapoesis (2014)
Read Patrick’s doctoral work, which consists of a comprehensive introduction and a series of poems and essays. Several of the poems and essays have been published in various journals elsewhere.
As this work was funded by Australian tax dollars, Patrick has made this work freely available to the public, since it was accepted by Western Sydney University.
“There have been so many learnings, diggings, explosions, failures, accidents, fermentations, tears, discoveries, haulings, screamings, inventions, reclaimings, cuttings, upcyclings and salvagings to get to this point in our neopeasant transition…“
